Police rescue 2 kidnapped victims in Gombe

The Police Command in Gombe State on Friday said it has successfully rescued two kidnapped victims after spending 16 days in captivity.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, who stated this in a press statement, said that the rescue was carried out by operatives of the Kwadon Police Division following a report of the kidnap.

Abdullahi said that the command received a distress report on Thursday about 1pm from one Alhaji Abdulrahman Rabiu of Daban Fulani area, Kwami Local Government Area, Gombe State.

He said that Rabiu reported that his daughter-in-law, Murjah Isah, 16 years, and his son, Musa also 16, were kidnapped and taken to an unknown destination since June 24, 2025.

According to the complainant, he had been contacted by the kidnappers who demanded ransom of N8 million and directed him to bring it to a location around Kalshingi Hills.

“Upon receipt of the information, the Divisional Police Officer of Kwadon Division immediately swung into action, leading a team of operatives to the identified area.

“Through coordinated efforts, the two victims were successfully rescued unharmed.

“The victims were immediately taken to a medical facility for check-up, after which their statements were obtained.”

Abdullahi said that the rescued persons had been reunited with their family.

He said that the case would be transferred to the State Criminal investigation department for discreet investigation to ensure the arrest and prosecution of the culprits.

The spokesperson also said that 13 other suspects were arrested for various crimes in the state and would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.
