International Women’s Day: NUJ Gombe Celebrates Women Journalists

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Gombe State Council, has joined the global community to celebrate International Women’s Day, a day set aside to recognize the contributions and achievements of women worldwide.

In a statement signed by Faruk Muazu Gombe and Shuaibu Umar Chairman and secretary, NUJ, Gombe State Council respectively, the NUJ Gombe State Council salutes the courage, resilience, and determination of women journalists in Gombe State, who have continued to excel in their profession despite the challenges they face. Women journalists in Gombe State have demonstrated exceptional skill, dedication, and perseverance in the discharge of their duties.

The statement acknowledged the significant contributions of women journalists to the growth and development of the media industry in Gombe State.

“They have played a crucial role in shaping public opinion, promoting good governance, and holding those in power accountable. Their contributions have not only enriched the media landscape in Gombe State but have also inspired a new generation of women to pursue careers in journalism” It added.

The NUJ Gombe State Council said it is committed to supporting and empowering women journalists in the state.
We recognize the importance of creating an enabling environment that allows women journalists to thrive and reach their full potential. To this end, we have various initiatives aimed at promoting gender equality and empowering women journalists in Gombe State.

The Gombe state NUJ said the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Gombe State Chapter, has been at the forefront of promoting gender equality and empowering women journalists in the state.

It commended their efforts and pledge to continue working closely with them to advance the interests of women journalists in Gombe State.

“As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we remember the struggles and sacrifices of women journalists who have come before us. We honour their memory and legacy by continuing to fight for gender equality, justice, and human rights” It added.
