Combined Convocation: Kashere Varsity produces 91 First Class

No fewer than 91 graduating students of Federal University of Kashere (FUK), Gombe State, would earn First Class Honour in its upcoming combined convocation ceremony, an official has disclosed.

Prof. Umaru Pate, the institution’s Vice Chancellor, announced this on Tuesday, during a pre-convocation media briefing at Kashere, Akko Local Government Area of Gombe state.

He said: “A total of 6,789 students will be graduating during the university’s combined convocation, with 91 of them earning First Class Honour.

“Of the 6,789 graduands, 1,899 achieved Second Class Upper Division, 3,917 obtained Second Class Lower Division, 960 earned Third Class Degrees, while three graduands will be awarded Pass Degrees.

“The graduating cohort comprises 4,791 male and 1,998 female students, reflecting the university’s commitment to inclusive education.”

In a significant development, Pate noted with satisfaction that the university woukd be inaugurating five major projects aimed at enhancing academic delivery and campus infrastructure.

“Among the projects is the inauguration of a Medical School, which will include departments of Anatomy, Physiology, and Medical Biochemistry.

“The school will offer MBBS programme and plans to expand in future phases to include Nursing and other health-related courses.

“Other projects slated for inauguration include; the Vice Chancellor’s residence, a 500-capacity College of Medicine lecture theatre, and a modern postgraduate hostel designed to provide improved accommodation for postgraduate students,” he said.

Pate further said that the university had received N4 billion grant from the Federal Government for the construction of a new Senate Building.

The vice chancellor said the project was expected to commence within the next three months, marking another milestone in the institution’s infrastructural growth.

He commended the dedication of both academic and non-academic staff, as well as the support from stakeholders and government partners, in steering the university towards national relevance.

Pate reiterated the vision of the university to remain a hub of academic excellence, innovation, and community service.

Five notable Nigerians will be conferred with honourary doctorate degrees.

The distinguished Nigerians include; Prof. Ali Pate, Coordinating Minister of Health, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu, Dr Kole Shettima, Managing Director, MacArthur Foundation, Alhaji Abubakar Bichi, Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation and the University’s Chancellor, Dr Lawrence Agbuzu.
