Gombe revenue service unsealed Access Bank

The Gombe state Internal Revenue Service (GIRS) has unsealed branches of Access Bank in Gombe metropolis earlier sealed by the agency.

The GIRS had on Monday selaed sealed two branches of Access Bank over its failure to pay N118.05 million as personal income tax of its staff accumulated over 10-year period.

Hamada Times learnt that in the early hours of Wednesday, the Executive Chairman of GIRS, Abubakar Inuwa Tata, alongside other management of the agency, unsealed the two branches and open for business to customers.


Briefing newsmen after the exercise, Tata said “As a responsible organisation, the GIRS has a duty to unsealed the properties following the payment of the N118.05 million outstanding tax liability by the bank.

He further stated that the agency is not after shutting down businesses, but rather to extract value to provide for the overall and all inclusive growth and development of Gombe State and its citizens.

“As you are all aware, taxes are imposed to redistribute income and resources to support socioeconomic development of our young state. As such, entities working, earning and posting profit in Gombe State are expected to pay statutory taxes and levies in accordance with the provisions of the Gombe State Revenue Codification and Consolidation Law (2021),” Tata said.

The executive chairman called on the good people of the and corporate entities to operate responsibly by paying their taxes, levies, fees, fine, rates and penalties as well as other applicable revenues.
