Gov. Yusuf of Kano pledges to create an enabling environment for media practitioners

Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State on Tuesday pledged to create an enabling environment for media practitioners to carry out their work without interference, promoting a free and credible press in the state.

Yusuf made the statement while receiving Alhassan Yahaya, President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), and members of the union’s National Executive Council at the Government House.

Yusuf represented by his Deputy, Aminu Gwarzo, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the media in fulfilling its social responsibilities.

Yusuf lauded the union of Journalists for choosing Kano as the venue for its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.

He stressed that this decision was a testament to the cordial working relationship between the Kano State Government and the media.

The Governor highlighted that his administration had achieved significant successes in improving the well-being of the people and fulfilling most of its campaign promises.

These promises include infrastructure development, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth and women empowerment.

He assured that the government would continue to implement more impactful projects to enhance the lives of the people.

The NUJ President, Alhassan Yahaya, expressed gratitude to the Kano State Government for hosting the meeting and commended the state’s developmental progress.Kano cultural tours

“We are overwhelmed by the progress made in terms of infrastructural transformation taking place in Kano,” he said.

Yahaya praised the state government for its support for the media and requested that the government sustains the positive gesture.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, extended a warm welcome to the NUJ executives and wished them productive deliberations during the meeting.
