NUJ DEPUTY NATIONAL PRESIDENT VISITS KANO COMMISSIONER OF INFORMATION, SOLICITS SUPPORT TO LEAD THE NUJ

The Deputy National President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Alahsan Yahaya, has paid a courtesy visit to the Kano State Commissioner of Information as part of his campaign for the position of National President of the NUJ.

Kano State Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs disclosed this in a statement.

During the visit, Comrade Alhasaan Yahaya expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and stated that he was in Kano to seek the support and blessings of the Commissioner in his bid to lead the union.

He highlighted his long-standing commitment to advancing the interests of Nigerian journalists and pledged to foster unity, professionalism, and integrity within the union if elected as its National President.

“I am here in Kano to consult with key stakeholders and seek your support as I aspire to the position of National President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists. Your endorsement and guidance will be invaluable as I work to promote the welfare of journalists and strengthen the union’s role in national development,” said Comrade Alhasaan Yahaya.

Responding, the Kano State Commissioner of Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, praised Comrade Alhasaan Yahaya for his efforts and leadership within the NUJ, commending his dedication to the profession.

He called for a peaceful, fair, and transparent election process as the NUJ prepares to elect its new leaders.

“The Nigerian Union of Journalists plays a crucial role in the development of our democracy. Journalists are the voice of the people, and their work contributes to the transparency and accountability of government. I urge all members to uphold the principles of fairness and professionalism as they go through this important electoral process,” said the Commissioner.

The Commissioner further emphasized the importance of fostering unity within the NUJ and maintaining high ethical standards, encouraging all candidates and members to focus on the collective good of the union and the nation at large.

The Deputy National President, who has worked with four National Presidents, was accompanied by the Kano State NUJ Chairman, Comrade Suleiman Abdullahi Dederi; NAWOJ National Secretary, Hajiya Wasila Ladan; and Kano State NAWOJ Chairperson, Sayyada Bahijja Kabara.
