Gombe state assured commitment to improve health of women, children

Gombe state government has reassured its commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of its people especially women and children.
The state Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya gave the assurance at the Flag-off ceremony of Maternal New born Child Health week (MNCHW) at Kwadon PHC Yamaltu Deba Local Government area of the state.

The Governor who was represented by the state commissioner for health Dr. Habu Dahiru said the state government is working hard especially in the area of health and nutrition to ensure the state health indicators are improved through preventive and curative measures .

Also speaking at the event, the Executive secretary Gombe state primary health care development agency Dr. Abdurrahman Shu’aibu, said the activity which is conducted annually across the country will be conducted across all the 11 Local Governments of the states.
He therefore call on the people of Gombe state to support their family and community to access the services during the week.
He also called on the caregivers that will be going round households giving healthcare to pregnant women to make sure they refer them to proper hospital whenever the need arise.
Earlier in his welcome address, the chairman yamaltu Deba local government Sha’aibu Umar Galadima, appreciates the state government for making health matters priority.

He also charged the beneficiaries of the programme to use the items given to them in a right way.About 194,619 pregnant women and 700,607 are targeted to benefit from services that include vitamin A supplements, deworming tablets, Iron/Fesolate among others.

There will also be screening for acute malnutrition and appropriate referral for malnourished ones.
