FCE (Technical) Gombe Warns Against Illegal Land Transactions Around Institution's Perimeter
The Federal College of Education (Technical), Gombe, has issued a stern warning to members of the public against engaging in any unauthorized land transactions around the institution's perimeter, declaring that any such deals are illegal and will not be recognized by the College and the government.
The Provost of the College, Dr. Mohammed Gazali Abdulhamid, gave the warning while addressing journalists in Gombe, following reports of alleged attempts by some individuals, operating under the guise of a government agency, to sell or allocate portions of land around the institution.
Dr. Abdulhamid categorically dismissed claims that sections of the College's designated setback along the Dukku and Bajoga Roads had been allocated for private or commercial development, describing the reports as false, misleading, and without any legal basis.
He emphasized that the College has neither allocated the land nor entered into any agreement with any individual, group or organization regarding the property.
The Provost, therefore, cautioned prospective allottees, buyers, developers and the general public to disregard any offer to purchase, lease, or develop land within the affected area, warning that anyone who engages in such transactions does so entirely at their own risk.
Dr. Abdulhamid said the College would continue to pursue all lawful measures to safeguard and preserve its infrastructure for the benefit of present and future generations.
The Provost expressed appreciation to the Gombe State Government, under the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, for its timely intervention in addressing the gully erosion that once posed a serious threat to the College's infrastructure.
He also acknowledged the appointment of some members of the institution's staff into key public offices in the state, describing the gesture as a reflection of the quality of human resources produced by the College.
Dr. Abdulhamid reiterated the College's commitment to excellence in teacher education, technical and vocational training, research, innovation and community service, noting that the institution would continue to strengthen partnerships with the Gombe State Government and other stakeholders to advance quality education, skills development and sustainable development.
The Provost disclosed that the enactment of the Federal Colleges of Education Act, 2023, has significantly expanded the institution's academic mandate by empowering it to award both the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) and Bachelor's Degrees, in addition to globally recognized skills certification.
The Provost described the development as a major milestone in the evolution of the College and urged parents and prospective students to take advantage of the expanded academic opportunities now available.
He also commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his sustained investments in the education sector, particularly in the construction and renovation of schools, recruitment and capacity building of teachers, and policies aimed at reducing the number of out-of-school children in Gombe State.
According to him, the Governor's education reforms are laying a solid foundation for human capital development and complementing the Federal Government's efforts to improve access to quality education across the country.
